Spin Digital and AZLAB to present 8K and 16K media solutions at ISE 2019

Berlin, Tokyo – January 31st 2019: Spin Digital and AZLAB will showcase new versions of their advanced media playback solutions for 8K and 16K video at ISE 2019. A demonstration will be presented from February 5th to 8th at the RAI Convention Centre in Amsterdam at the AZLAB booth 14-H135.

16K HDR Playback

A new version of Spin Player, a media player from Spin Digital designed for professional applications, will be demonstrated for playback of 16K content in HDR format. The 16K content will be presented on a video wall consisting of sixteen 4K monitors. Advanced tone mapping and color gamut conversion functionality will be used to convert HDR content for displaying on current SDR screens.

The system to be demonstrated has the following features:

  • Resolution: 16K (15360 x 8640 px)
  • Frame rate: 60 fps
  • Pixel format: 4:2:0, 10-bit
  • Compression:  HEVC Main 10 at 400 Mbps.
  • HDR format: HDR-10 (PQ and BT.2020)
  • PC and display:
    • CPU: 2x Intel Xeon Scalable Platinum 8168 (2×24 cores)
    • GPU: 4x Nvidia M4000
    • Display: 16x 4K Monitor Dell 27” Dell UltraSharp U2718Q

AZLAB, as a recognized expert in producing UHD content based on cutting-edge software technologies, has prepared special 16K HDR content for this demonstration.

8K 12G SDI Playback

A demonstration of 8K video playback with support for 12G SDI (SMPTE ST 2082) output will be presented. 12G SDI interfaces can be used for professional 8K applications requiring maximum control of the video processing and display chain.

Spin Player has been extended recently to support 12G SDI output. In addition, Spin Player allows to apply video conversions in real-time including, among others, scaling, transfer function conversion, color gamut conversion, and HDR tone mapping.

8K/16K Video Playback applications and SDKs

Spin Digital HEVC codec and video rendering solutions are available as complete applications (Spin Player and Spin Enc) and as SDK (Spin SDK) ready to be integrated in custom applications. AZLAB has integrated Spin SDK into their advanced media playback and rendering solutions, which are available as turnkey systems.
